The purpose of this Steem Monsters playbook glossary is to help new users understand the different terms used throughout the Steem Monsters game and how they're defined within gameplay. Terms may or may not have the same meaning as they're defined in a language dictionary.

Cost — Use of an ability, use of a spell, or other action may endure a cost. A cost is paid with a held resource or asset such as Mana or Health. An example of when a cost is incurred is when it costs Mana for a Summoner to summon a Monster. Costs may also be incurred when stopping an action, such as the cost to a Monster's health when blocking an attack. A cost can therefore be understood as a price to pay or that's required to do an act.

Mana — An energy resource used within the game to pay various costs, such as the cost of a summoning spell. Mana can be thought of as an energy currency and used in the exchange of energy required to perform actions within the game.
