ブロックチェーンは芸術的コミュニティを持つ強力な新技術である。それは一体性、完全性、取引の透明性、権利の尊重、プライバシー、セキュリティ、そして公正な価値の交換を尊重し、動画、美術、ビデオゲームやその他の創造性の追求のための新しいエコシステムを作ることができる。この論理はHarvard Business Reviewの記事で"Blockchain Revolution"の著者Dan TapscottとAlex Tapscottによって支持された。[1]

NYU Steinhardtのビジュアルアートマネジメントの准教授Amy WhitakerはArtsyのウェブサイトに、データのブロックからなるデジタル台帳としてのブロックチェーンは所有権、トラックの真正性、株式のトレードを容易に確立できる“真偽の分散レジストリ”であり、しばしば著作権の手続きがいまだにFAXで処理されている現在のアートマーケットシステムから大幅にアップグレードされるだろう、と語った。最も重要なことは、そのようなプラットフォームは“アーティストのために価格と価値を調整する”のを助け、彼らが経済的な価値を作り出すことに参加するのを容易にします、とWhitakerは述べた。[3]

SteemブロックチェーンとSteemitにおけるアート
2016年7月4日にソーシャルネットワークとブロックチェーンの組み合わせとして公式に立ち上げられたSteemとSteemitは、プラットフォームでアートワークを発表し共有し始める多くのアーティストに使われた。ブロックチェーン認証、データセキュリティ、透明性およびSTEEMトークンと統合ウォレットの利点を持つソーシャルネットワークを容易に使用することにより、Steemエコシステムは多くのアーティストにとって魅力的なものになった。
2017年6月6日に公開された記事で、Steemianの@voronoiは、「アートの90%はプロセスです。価値は、伝統的には専ら最終成果物にのみ割り当てられていました。しかし、実際の芸術作品はストーリーとプロセスです。Steemitはキャンバスの裏側に隠れた物語に価値を与えます」と提案した。[4]
Steemitのartタグは、投稿で毎日貢献している巨大なアーティストのコミュニティを見せてくれる。いくつかのアートチャレンジが毎週様々なユーザーによって投稿されており、アーティストのコミュニティへの参加を促している。ほとんどのコンテストでは、主催者の選考基準に基いてSTEEMを得られるようになっている。

2017年7月8日、アーティストのPaolo Beneforti (@paolobeneforti)はSteemarketを立ち上げた。それはSteemianのためのアートのオンラインショーケースで、人々はアートを探しSTEEMによって買うことができる。[5]
