アカウントを新規作成したとき評価（レピュテーションスコア）は25で始まり、アップヴォートとダウンヴォートに基いて増減する。
@blueorgyによって作られたサイトSteem.coolはSteemitの式などを用いて精密なライブ評価ビューワとして定義されている。 SteemWhales.comにて、自分の評価のsteemianランキングを見ることができる。

評価システムはネットワーク内の任意のメンバーの「信頼性」をネットワークに伝えるデータの一つである。システムはいくつかの測定基準を見るネットワーク上で動作するプラグインによってこれを実施する。
ブロックチェーン上の生の評価は、実際には任意のアカウントによって受信されたrsharesの総量として記録される。基本的には、投票した回数（記事やコメント）と背後にあるSTEEM Powerの総量（より詳しく言えば、投票時の全STEEM PowerのVoting Powerのパーセンテージ）の合計の記録である。
