STEEMパワー（SP）はすぐには消費できないようVestにロックされたSTEEM（STEEMトークンを参照）である。

STEEM PowerはSteemitにおける影響力である。^[1] 保有するSPが多いほど、アップヴォートで著者に与える報酬は大きくなり、同様に得られるキュレーター報酬も大きくなる。SPには僅かであるが利息もつく。

STEEMをSPに変換することをパワーアップと言う。これはウォレットのSTEEMの横にある下向きの矢印をクリックして《power up》を選択することで行うことができる。パワーアップにおいては1 STEEM = 1 SPである。

SPのロックを解除しSTEEMに変換するにはパワーダウンを行う。パワーダウンでは13週に渡ってSteem Powerの1/13をSTEEMに戻す。例：1,300SPをパワーダウンするとき、毎週100STEEMを消費や取引、転送、引き出すといったことに使うことができる。
